My name is Rochelle, I am a bilateral above knee amputee. I lost both my legs in a tragic event about 3 ½ years ago. When I woke up, I didn’t know anything about being an amputee and certainly nothing about prosthetics.
Early in my recovery I was invited to an amputee support group which has been life changing. It gave me a community that understood my struggles. I now have multiple amputee communities and friends for life.
In one of those communities, I met Troy, a unilateral above knee amputee, from Colorado Springs. He too is passionate about bringing amputees together for support. Troy decided to start up an in-person amputee support group. I came alongside him to help build this local community.
If you are an amputee, know someone that is, or a family member needing support, we hope you will consider joining us. Our flyer is included in this blog with all the details you will need. Don’t be shy, we’d love to have you join us on this journey of life after limb loss.

Good morning,
My name is Ashley Heguy, I’m the outpatient therapy director for an assisted living facility here in town. I have a resident who is an AK amputee and he met someone over the weekend who informed him of a support group here in Colorado Springs, somewhere near Rockrimmon. Is this a group that meets every other Thursday? If so, can I get more information regarding the group to pass along to my resident?
Thank you so much!
Ashley
Hi Ashley, as far as we know it currently meets once a month. We would recommend getting in touch with the gentleman who leads the group, Troy. His phone number is 719-231-3568. We hope he can get involved with this support group!
